Barry McCain Bio:

Barry McCainBarry McCain is an independent scholar, writer and genetic genealogy consultant living in Oxford, Mississippi. He has a BA with honours from Ole Miss in history. He is the Director of the McCain DNA Project, and a Co-Director with the Ulster Heritage DNA Project and Irish Heritage DNA Project.

His research has located several high profile families: the MacKean clans of Glencoe and Ardnamurchan, and the O'Kane family of Dungiven, to mention a few. One of the goals of his work is to reunite Irish and Scottish families in the Diaspora with their kinsmen still in Ireland and the UK and to help families without paper records recover their family's history. He is a Gaelic speaker and frequent traveller to the Ireland and Britain. He presented the story of the successful McCain DNA Project at the 2006 Ulster American History Symposium, in Knoxville TN.

He was born in Hinds County, Mississippi and spent his growing years in north Louisiana. His family left County Antrim, Ireland, for the Colonies in 1718. He has spent much of his life exploring the world of his Gaelic ancestors.

Mr. McCain is available as a genetic genealogy consultant for families of Irish and Scottish ancestry and he specialises in Ulster and Argyle research. He also is available for speaking engagements on the topics relating to Ulster, Ulster American history, and genetic genealogy research and for seminars of Irish and Scottish genetic genealogy.
